You’ve taken surveys before. Of course, you have filled out a few questions, maybe checked some boxes.
You gave your opinion on something and that was it. A few minutes of your time was all it took.
What if I told you that this could be a way of making money? It’s possible.
You can earn a real, steady income from online surveys. They are very easy to complete and most of them won’t take up much of your time.
Yet, this may all sound too good to be true. Therefore, it’s up to you to be diligent. Seek out surveys that will offer a rate worth your time.
You must also be wary of scams and money-making schemes. They are designed only to take money out of your pocket, instead of the other way around.
I’m going to help you determine one from the other. Then, you can explore a little-known and potentially lucrative method for bringing an additional income.
Taking online surveys are great because you can do them in your spare time. You will bring in a little extra cash. I know we could all use some of that!
How to Get Involved
It is all pretty simple. However, you’ll need to do some searching for online survey sites first.
There are plenty out there to choose from. You’re sure to find one that you like. Go ahead. Sign up and fill out a member profile.
Soon after the process is completed, you’ll begin to receive emails. They will indicate when new surveys compatible with your profile are available.
The email will typically explain what the survey is about. It also describes the length of time it should take you to finish.
Plus, it details the method and amount of compensation you can expect. There will also be a link to follow should you decide to accept that survey.
Sign up with more than one survey site. In doing so, it will increase the number and consistency of the surveys you receive.
Let’s say you do receive an email. Be sure to respond as quickly as possible.
That is because many surveys may only accommodate a limited number of respondents. You don’t want to miss out!
The first thing to know about compensation is that it will vary per survey. Some of them may pay as little as 25 to 50 cents per survey.
Others may pay as much $30 to $40 a pop. That’s if you’re getting paid in cash or gift cards. However, there is something to keep in mind.
Those gift cards may only be good for one retailer. Perhaps, they are only at a limited number of stores.
Perhaps, you get cash. In that case, you will likely need a PayPal or Venmo account.
This is because most sites will pay through those methods only. Maybe, you are getting a gift card. Be sure it’s redeemable with a retailer that you typically frequent.
There are a variety of ways you can be paid for taking an online survey. In addition to cash, some sites will pay you in points. These can be redeemed for merchandise.
Some sites will enter you in sweepstakes to win big prizes. With those, the more surveys you complete, the more chances you have to win.
You might also be compensated in the form of new products. These have just hit the market. Thus, companies want people to try them out and then answer survey questions.
How Much Can You Make?
That’s entirely up to you. However, you shouldn’t expect to make online surveys your full-time job.
You won’t make enough to pay your bills each month. However, they can be a great source of additional revenue. They can supplement your current employment.
Many sites will pay you in cash. Yet, not all of them do and you might receive products instead.
You can choose which surveys to take. In doing so, you put an emphasis on receiving cash or a gift card. Though, there may be fewer of those than the alternatives.
Take all of this into account. That’s because you’re going to need to complete a lot of surveys to receive substantial compensation.
Don’t expect surveys to be a fast cash option for making money. You might make 75 cents for a survey that takes a few minutes to complete.
The key to making money with online surveys is volume. The more you complete the more money you make. However, the compensation you’re receiving will take a while to add up.
You’re searching for survey sites to join. One of the areas you want to consider is the method and frequency of payouts.
Some sites won’t pay you until your account has reached a minimum payout amount. That minimum can be as much as $20 or $30.
That means you won’t get paid a dime until you’ve completed $20 or $30 worth of surveys. Again, not a fast cash, get rich quick option for income.
Some sites will payout faster. Often, this is determined by the method of payment you prefer.
You may get your money quicker with a gift card. It’s usually slower if you’re paid cash through PayPal or a traditional check.
They are out there. Scammers are eager to prey on unsuspecting individuals. They are enticed by the opportunity to make money without much of a time commitment.
Far too many folks are getting victimized. That’s because they don’t know what the red flags look like.
Here are a few ways to avoid falling into that trap:
- Steer clear of any site where members need to pay a fee to join.
- Stay away from guarantees that are made about how much you can earn in a short period of time.
- Beware of sites that prompt you for sensitive personal information. This includes a social security number or your bank account. Remember, most sites will only pay through PayPal or Venmo, gift cards, or checks.
These are all sure-fire signs that the site is a scam. There are many good and reputable survey sites online. However, you’ll need to weed out the good from the bad before you sign up.
You must also avoid any unsolicited calls or emails from companies you don’t know. That includes those you’ve never heard of, and didn’t contact prior.
Often they will offer you the chance to take a survey. It’s very likely this is also a scam.
Before You Sign Up
Avoiding scams is just one part of the equation. Signing up with a survey site requires being careful. This includes all aspects of making money with online surveys.
Analyze how each site works. What does it offer in the form of compensation? How often they payout?
This is about making money. Therefore, you may want to steer clear of sites that only offer products, points, or sweepstakes entries. That’s up to you, of course.
You’ve gone ahead and signed up. Now, consider your time and what it’s worth before you accept a survey.
Let’s say you are sent a survey. Be sure to weigh the compensation against the time it will take to complete.
If it’s 50 cents for a few minutes, that’s one thing. Yet, if it’s a few bucks for an hour or two of your time, it’s probably not worth it.
$4 for a half hour survey is $8 an hour. That’s less than minimum wage. Keep that in mind as you decide which surveys to accept and which ones to pass on.
Accepting as many as possible will yield a greater profit. Therefore, be willing to take surveys across many topics.
You could be getting an endless array of surveys sent to your email. It all depends on the number of sites you’ve signed up with.
Don’t limit yourself to just a few choices. Instead, try to qualify for as many as you can. In doing so, you’ll make more money in the long run.
Remember, it’s all about volume. Each survey is going to be a drop in the bucket of a growing amount. It will increase over a slow period of time.
Sure, you may come across a survey offering a much higher dollar amount than usual. Yet, those will likely be few and far between. Additionally, make certain it isn’t also a scam.
Perhaps, you’re willing to receive compensation that isn’t dispersed in cash. In that case, you could also get a lot of cool products.
Companies send them to you to try out and keep. That might be a nice trade-off for you in lieu of being paid in cash or gift cards.
Some of these instances will also pay and you get the free goods. It’s a win-win all around. This is particularly the case, if the product you’ve been given is something worthwhile.
Many survey companies may also provide opportunities to participate in focus groups. They send you to a location and discuss a product or topic with others.
These surveys can pay a lot more than the online versions. Consequently, they may require a longer time commitment and transportation.
The last thing to know is that you may not qualify for every survey that is sent to you. Some of them may ask you to fill out a form ahead of time.
This is done to confirm that you fall within the demographic they are seeking for their survey. If you don’t qualify, it is okay. You will probably qualify for the next.
There is one way to ensure that you are only sent surveys for which you will be eligible. That’s by filling out your member profile succinctly and honestly. That assures getting the right surveys sent to you.
The survey sites want to know they have the right people taking their surveys. Therefore, if they think you don’t fit every aspect of the ideal candidate, you will be disqualified.
